Concerto in Civitanova Alta, la pianista Lorenzo di bella, music Rachmaninov

Our paintings from the exhibition Isola dei Morti were projected onto a huge screen behind the pianist.
Here is mine, looks ominous on that scale, which I think is nice.

The Island of the Dead

This is a painting I have contributed to an Exhibition which opens at the PerMariMonti Gallery next weekend. And this is the text which goes with the painting in the catalogue..

'Ogniuno di noi ha la sua isola dei morti.
E un luogo freddo e abbandonato senza alcun significato,
che non si preoccupa ne del nostro arrivo, ne se rimaniamo li
per l'eternita, o se ce ne andiamo verso ad una vita nuova.
Meglio non indugiare troppo e stare li a lungo.
La cosa migliore?
Navigarla e oltrepassarla'

Each of us has their own Island of the Dead.
A cold and abandoned place with no meaning
and which cares not if we arrive, stay for eternity
or leave to live anew.
It's best not to stay too long there.

And best of all
To sail past the island.

The show is a tribute to the Swiss artist Bockiln and his series of paintings
on this theme

My Exhibition

It's called 'Omaggio alla Sibilla', 'Homage to the Sibilla' and is about my years spent 'neath her watchful gaze. Was up there on Midsummer's night with friends and we climbed her mountains to her cave. A stunning experience

It opens July 6 at the Per Mari e Monti Gallery in Civitanova, vialle Vittorio Veneto 59, just a short walk from the Piazza xxx Settembre.
I'm exhibiting a bunch from this series

Homaggio alla Sibilla

In fact I am still painting this series. Can't get it out of my head. Was up there May 1st and felt pulled towards these mountains. The sensation left me feeling weak, a feeling I couldn't explain to Liliana. You see, these mountains exert a powerful and ancient magnetism, which it is almost impossible to pull away from.
An image from the series.

Homage to Sibillini

Sorry I've neglected you dear Blog, but I've been working on a series of paintings entitled 'Homage to La Sibilla'. These are about my years living by the Sibillini mountains; mountains and memories, but more than that, they sort of embedded themselves in my DNA (can I say that?) and they are coming out in dreams and thus images. I think there are ten now and I can't wait to exhibit them together. Here is the latest.

I'll put more up as I photograph them.
Schmincke Ink, that's what I'm working with now. German as you might imagine.
Germans make good ink.
